Welcome to Big Bear Events!

Big Bear Events host encouraging, local and professional running events in amazing locations in the Midlands, UK. Based in Rugby our venues span from Leamington in the West to Fineshade Wood in the East, Cannock Chase in the North and Amptill Park in the South. Wherever and whenever you come to one of our events though I’d hope you feel welcomed, encouraged and free to run, hike or walk as you please in an amazing setting.

We’ve gone from 5 events in 2018 to 25 in 2022. We’re likely to stay at this level for the foreseeable future. I’m always tinkering and looking for new ideas though. All our different events have their own flavours and unique appeals but the core experience should be the same regardless of when and how far you are moving!

Our events are generally small, giving a real family feel. This is only enhanced by a large group of amazing regular runners who really understand Big Bear. It clearly goes down well as we’ve won multiple awards from Racecheck based on the outstanding feedback we’ve received from the most important people, the finishers! We’ve put on the top rated events in 2019 and 2021 on the entire platform and have many events where over 50% of the finishers have taken the time to leave feedback. That alone should tell you enough.

Big Bear Events is a micro company, for 99% of the time it’s just me, Paul! Everything not on race day is done by myself along with help from a great bunch of people. Of course on event day it’s a little different when I’m supported by a small team and volunteers. I’ll never use our lack of size as an excuse for anything though. If you’ve paid your money you should get the experience you were expecting, regardless of how many employees there are! I’d hope the lack of size actually gives a much better experience with the attention to detail a larger team couldn’t give.

Hopefully I’ll see you on a start line soon. Our events really are a great place where you can either be trying for a PB or just having a social run with friends. It really doesn’t matter what your ability or experience is, as long as you’re prepared to e joy yourself… and have a few jaffa cakes!
