Who are Gato Sports?
They are our event partners. They've kindly donated some excellent prizes we’ll be giving out as prizes in the lead up to the event. They are a sportswear company that specialise in great kit and accessories. Coventry Runner are our local stockist.
Course description
You’ll be running through woodland, meadow and over grass fields. Depending on the weather leading up to the event this could mean muddy, not so muddy or rock hard! There will be exposed trees roots, uneven surfaces and a few gates to navigate but the running will always have a view.
The route is undulating but not hilly. A truly great venue and route!
What does it cost?
We operate a tiered pricing approach. The earlier you enter, the cheaper the event but never ever will you pay a booking fee!
Before 18/06/2023 £19
After 18/06/2023 £24
Series entry is only £34 for both events!
Join the Big Bear Brigade to save 10% on your entry!
Can I run with my dog?
No. The average temperatures in July are to high to safely allow canicross running.
Where is it?
Coombe Abbey Park, Coventry is run and managed by Coventry City Council. The What 3 Words location is here.
Parking costs up £3 for 1-2 hours. There is a toilet block next to the HQ on site.
Coombe Abbey Park (CV3 2AB) is on the outskirts of Coventry and 6 minutes from Junction 2 of the M6. The closest train station is Coventry.
How far is the race?
10k! This might seem a bit pointless to mention given the name but this is different to most of our events at Big Bear. You'll get the same love, a medal and some goodies… but you can't run all night!
Permissions
Permission for this event has been obtained Coventry City Council.
I’ve heard you do cupless events?
Yes, but not this time. Unlike our other events we will have some biodegradable cups with water/electrolyte available on the course and we will have hot drinks available before and after too. If you have a foldable cup you can bring, even better but we don't insist on it for our short races.
Has the event been run before?
Yes! We’ve held the Summer 10K series for the last 2 years at Ryton Pools and held the Coombe 10K in 2022, both have been great fun. You can view the results here
I’ve heard you do nice medals. What will it look like?
The medals are in production… once we have images we’ll share them!
I’m not that fussed by a medal, drink and flapjack…
In that case our partnership with Trees Not Tees may be of interest! When you sign up to this event you can select to have no finish line swag and instead we’ll donate the cost of this to Trees Not Tees who will plant a tree in their Scottish woodland on your behalf! You can find more info about this initiative here.
A special 10K at one of the best venues in the Midlands! Come and run 10K with us after you’ve finished work through ancient woodland, past formal gardens and across a large open field to finish. If you’ve never run at Coombe Abbey before this is your opportunity to do so.
