Gato Sports Virtual 10K
We’ve had to limit entries to our Gato Sports Head Torch 10K so we thought we’d try and let as many people get involved with a new virtual 10K event!
What do I get?
For this event we've teamed up with MySports and More to send every entrant an exclusive recycled plastic Gato Sports Tech T to mark the event. We've partnered with Gato Sports for a few years now with their award winning head torches, a great companion to our Head Torch 10K events, but they do more! Gato Sports produce top quality technical sports T shirts from recycled plastic bottles!
What’s the T shirt like?
This is what the T shirt will look like. We’ve got 2 colours to pick from, Neon Yellow or Lime. Both bright colours to help you with your night running (in tandem with your Gato Sports light up gear of course!). Both come in a unisex or ladies fit.
Sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint is one of Gato Sports core commitments. Inspired by this commitment the Gato Sports Tech Tee is made out of recycled PET plastic. The Gato Sports Tech Tee is produced without losing the characteristics of performance apparel. 135 gr/m2 100% micro-polyester
Do I have to be super fast? Will their be a first place trophy?
No and not quite! The beauty of virtual events is there is no pressure to go at a set speed or pace and you can run as you like when you like! (Not that we’d ever pressure anyone at our live events of course) There won’t be a big trophy for first place but Gato Sports will be sending out some spot prizes. So get your best sweaty selfies on social media and tag #bigbearevents, #mysportsandmore and #gatosports to be in with a chance of a prize!
How does it work?
The process is simple. You sign up to the event and we will send your package out in the post once entries close. We’re hoping for delivery in the first week or so of December. Once it arrives it is then up to you when you run your 10k and where you run (within government guidelines of course). Instructions on how to upload your results can be found here
Sending the T shirt out before you've completed the run means you can be out on your run in your beautiful new top. That extra bit of motivation!
What does it cost?
The cost, including delivery, is £15
What do I do once I’ve done my run?
Once you have completed your run you can upload your results directly to our results page.
How far do I have to run?
10K! We know GPS isn’t 100% accurate but no intentional cheating please! We’re sure honesty will prevail and you’ll try and smash that PB or just have a god time!
Isn’t this open to lying/abuse?
Of course this requires a bit of honesty on your part but we know we only have lovely runners and no-one could drink a beer with "you've earnt this" on it if they haven't in good faith!! We also ask that you upload evidence of your run, a link to a Strava or Garmin activity etc is perfectly sufficient.
Do I have to run it at night in a forest like the Gato Sports Head Torch 10K?
You can do! You don’t have to run this one in a forest, or even at night but there is extra kudos for those of you who grab a Gato Sports head torch and run for the darkness to complete your 10K!
Anything different in your terms compared to your normal events?
Yes.
Once you have entered there are no refunds as we’ll send entries to MySports and More for printing as they arrive.
You are responsible for your safety while out on your run and must run within your local government guidelines.
