Asics Test Run event
Asics, in collaboration with Coventry Runner, will be joining us at the Grizzly Bear Challenge at Ryton Pools Country Park on Wednesday 1st February for a “test run” event.
I love these test run events!! We’ve done a few in the past and they’ve worked really well each time. These 6 hour challenges are a perfect set up for this sort of thing. A 5k lap is long enough to give a pair of trainers a proper test, better than 2 minutes on the treadmill or by taking a punt online! With the lapped format it means you don’t have to commit to wear them for your whole event either. I always remember a slightly “quirky” (but well liked) brand sponsoring a marathon up a mountain and offering the chance to try their shoes for the event. I don’t think so!! 5k around the park – sign me up!
There is no obligation to buy on the day at all – there will only be a few sizes available but you can register your interest and Anne-Marie from Coventry Runner will be in contact to put you in your new favourite shoes. If you’re super eager of course you can contact Coventry Runner directly yourself too!
Those of you that come along and try a pair will be able to get £20 off Asics shoes at Coventry Runner, our local running shop, in the month of February too – even better!! This isn’t just for people who have a place at the (sold out!) Grizzly Bear either. If you want to come along and try a pair then by all means come down to Ryton Pools Country Park and join in. Maybe pop down for an “extended coffee break” or on your lunch break if you’re able to.
With spring marathon training in full swing I know there will be lots on the hunt for a new pair of trainers and the opportunity to try them on in this sort of setting just doesn’t come along very often!
This is just another way I want to add some real value to the events in 2023. If you have any ideas yourself do let me know – I’m always keen to try stuff! Hopefully see you on the 1st in some shiny new shoes!
